The 4th Monday in Lent 2019

But you are the same, and your years have no end. Psalm 102:27

When hit with troubles, we need to be cautious that we do not equate our wavering of circumstances with God.

I had a coach in High School that used to have the same comment to people he played pick up basketball with that used the Lord's Name in vain at a mistake they made. He would say “God had nothing to do with that!”

We drag God's Name into the gutter, we take His Name in vain, when we refuse to take responsibility for our actions and blame Him for whatever is occurring.

God gives us a brief time to learn of His love and grace despite our kicking and screaming. Yet, He still loves us. He remains the same despite our propensity to lack contentment and stability. His years have no end while we fade, in deep need of His loving salvation through Christ alone.

Almighty God, forgive us where we have taken you for granted, where we have blamed you instead of confessing our sins. We ask for your mercy to enable us in godly contentment to rely fully upon your steadfast love, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
